2015 in review

2015 was another remarkable year

Here are some highlights:

The biggest and best event to happen in 2015 was the arrival of Klaira Evelyn Rose Walters
Oscar welcomed his baby sister on September 25.

I was lucky enough to be in Montana for Klaira's arrival. Great Grandma Alice and Aunt Edna made it too.

In February, the girls participated in the school science fair.

Rivi researched Arctic Plants.

Kyri researched adhesives.

The same day as the science fair, Kyri had an allergic reaction to an adhesive (a latex band-aid).

In March, Grandma and Grandpa visited.

Grandma and the girls made cinnamon rolls,

 dresses,

 and fairy houses.

Grandpa draft-proofed the house.

We made sure to schedule a day in Toronto, where we viewed the city from atop the CN tower as well as on foot.

On our way to the CN tower elevator.

The girls looking down on Toronto - showing no fear of the glass floor at the top of the CN tower.

The perfect ending to a lovely day in Toronto - Dinner with two sets of Grandparents.

In June, the girls had their year end dance performance. This year the theme was Fads.

For Ballet, Kyri was a monkey from the game Barrel of Monkeys

For Tap, Kyri was Michael Jackson

For Jazz, Rivi was Madonna

And for Ballet, Rivi was the red side of a Rubik's Cube

Immediately after the dance performance, Kyri cut off her hair

And then school was over.

Last day of grade 2 for Kyri

Marathon Madness:

In August 2014, I challenged my sister to run the 2015 Missoula Marathon - it was to be my milestone for turning 40. She agreed and we started training. And then she got pregnant! But Ori got on board and agreed to be my running partner. Rivi and Kyri also started running. When we couldn't run outdoors, we went to our community center's indoor track or the YMCA.

January 2, 2015

After almost a year of training and hundreds of hours and miles behind us, we headed to Montana,

ran our last few training runs while adjusting to the altitude,

and ran all 26.2 miles of the Missoula Marathon in 4 hours and 43 minutes.

Summer Success!!!
Kyri worked really hard to learn how to ride a bike.
Rivi was an awesome big sister and helped guide her.

And she got it!

Hooray!!!

September
Back to School
Kyri off to Grade 3
Rivi off to Grade 5

Running becomes an addiction.
In September, we ran our second AHS Fun Run.  2.5 kms.

In October, I helped organize a running group for girls. Rivi, Kyri and I, along with 16 other girls, ran every Wednesday in preparation for a 3 km race - The Santa Pur-suit.

The running group was a huge success and a lot of fun!

To finish the year, we flew back to Montana for the holidays.

Kyri and Rivi got to meet Klaira.

Ori got to learn the basics of cutting up deer meat.

And there was lots of opportunity to play in the snow!

Do you want to build a snowman? Wait! This is our hula snow woman.

Ori cutting kindling.

Jenn and Jake

Snow angels (and Ebony).

We even got to go skiing at Discovery.

And then warm up at Fairmont Hotsprings.

A very happy holiday.

We ended the year at home in Waterloo. A quiet night with just the four of us discussing our New Years Resolutions.
Rivi made Root Beer floats for us to ring in 2016.

And of course there is always more! So here are a few more photos.
